About
Julian Wittich (b. 1999) is a Taiwanese-Dutch jazz bassist and composer based in New York City. Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Julian began his musical studies with the violin at 7 years old. He soon discovered his appetite for various styles of music, teaching himself to play the electric bass at age 13 and eventually the double bass at age 16. He later studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with some of Europe's most prominent jazz bassists, such as Frans van der Hoeven and Clemens van der Feen. He has also made a name for himself in both the Taiwanese jazz and pop scene, working with established artists such as 林俊傑 JJ Lin, 9m88, and 黃宣 Yellow.
Julian is currently completing his master's degree at Manhattan School of Music in New York City studying with the legendary bassists Buster Williams, Jay Anderson, and John Benitez, and he frequently performs at jazz venues around the city.
